ABOUT US
IDEA BORN.
PROBLEM SOLVED.
OUR STORY
My name is Bill Ray, founder of events mobile app Odyss. From 2011 to 2014, I worked in government as an outreach director, and one of my primary responsibilities was to stay engaged with the community by finding events to connect with the the community
In the puplic sector, when you're working for an elected official, it's important to stay engaged with the public. It's like community networking. I would sift through both digital and traditional platforms to find events. I recognized that there was no single repository where you could find all scheduled community events. There came the light-bulb moment.
We are non-monolithic social beings. We crave oportunites to interact and create experience in our lives to the point where economists have dubbed this the "Experience Economy".
The same person that may go to a rock concert on Saturday, may get up and go to a garage sale on Sunday morning. And there is no one place where people can go to and find all events and no where that provides event organizers with access to millions of eyeballs that might be interested in their event. Our society wants to discover unique experiences and events to attend, and they want the information in the fastest, most frictionless way possible; moreover they want to share their experiences with the world. Odyss will give the public what they want.
